Zelenskyy Announces Buffer Zone: On Sunday, Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the shocking offensive move by the Ukrainian military into Russia’s Kursk region would form a “buffer zone on the aggressor’s territory” to stop Russia from attacking Ukraine.

Earlier in a statement, the Ukrainian president said that  “our presence is getting stronger” as the Ukrainian forces were strengthening their positions in Kursk.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also praised his invading fighters for their bravery in taking down Russian soldiers. He also added that their efforts “replenish our exchange fund” and will increase the speed of the release of Ukrainian troops and civilians who are captured by Russian forces.

He further added, “It is now our primary task … to destroy as much Russian war potential as possible and conduct maximum counteroffensive actions.”

Ukraine forces are now dedicated and confident to fight back and stop any Russian attempts so that they can take back their land which is about 400 square miles and has been captured by Russians for almost two weeks.

On Telegram, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk said that the Ukraine soldiers are trying their best to stop counterattacks from Russia. He further noted that a second bridge in the area was severely damaged by Kyiv’s efforts to weaken Russia’s attacks.

Earlier, local Government Vyacheslav Gladkov noted that Two women who live in the Belgorod Region were injured because of Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russia’s border.

On Sunday, the Russian authorities said that people who have left Kursk’s Korenevo District cannot return back to their homes as the situation there remains horrific.

In a social media post, Marina Degtyareva added, “People who persist in returning home pose problems for the Russian military and that some attempts lead to awful tragedies.”

She added that the Korenevo residents will be informed when the situation there will calm down.

Yan Furtsev who is a member of Yabloko told Euronews, “No one expected that this kind of conflict was even possible in the Kursk region. That is why there is such confusion and panic, because citizens are arriving (from front-line areas) and they’re scared, very scared.”
