The history of World Deaf Day goes back to the 1900s when it was first celebrated by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) in 1958. The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is an NGO that focuses on promoting the rights of deaf people and their importance in today’s world.

It is also believed that this day honors a great artist named Granville Richard Seymour Redmond who was born in Philadelphia in 1871 and became deaf at a very young age. Granville Richard Seymour Redmond studied painting, pantomime, and drawing at the California School of Design and became famous for painting landscapes and prolific colorist by 1905.

However, this year will mark the 73rd anniversary of World Deaf Day and will make an important year for WFD.
