Who is Valentino Garavani?
Valentino Garavani whose real name is Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani (valenˈtiːno ɡaraˈvaːni). He was born on 11 May 1932 in Voghera.
While he was in elementary school in Voghera, he grew an interest in fashion and art and worked under Aunt Rosa who was a local designer named Ernestina Salvadeo.

Ernestina Salvadeo is related to the famous artist Aldo Giorgini.
He then went to Paris with the help of his mother Teresa de Biaggi and father Mauro Garavani to follow his passion and interest for fashion and art.
Valentino Garavani then moved to Paris to achieve his dream and passion for fashion and art.

In Paris, he joined the École des Beaux-Arts and at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne to pursue his interest.
He then became the apprentice of Jean Dessès who was a fashion designer and sketched dresses for Countess Jacqueline de Ribes.
However, Valentino left Paris and returned back to Rome in 1960. He opened a fashion house with the help of his father and his associates.

He then conducted his first fashion show which was attended by famous models and fashion designers. However, the show was very fancy and Valentino was also known for his astonishing red dresses.
He made his first international debut in 1962. In Florence, Valentino delivered Gloria Schiff’s black organza ensemble to a friend of Vogue editor Consuelo Crespi, Jacqueline Kennedy.

However, Valentino received a lot of praise from Jacqueline Kennedy because of the dress he designed.
Later, Kennedy became a loyal client and designed the white gown worn at her wedding to Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis.
During the 1970s, Valentino spent a lot of time in New York City, and his works were recognized by famous people like Diana Vreeland, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and art icon Andy Warhol.
His exceptional passion and skills in fashion design were known and recognized throughout the world. He also won a series of awards in his prime such as the Neiman Marcus Award, Premio speciale dell’arte nella moda, Legion d’honneur, and many others.
On September 4, 2007, Valentino declared that he would be leaving the fashion world and retiring in January 2008, after his last haute couture show in Paris.
