US boxer Jajaira Gonzalez: US boxer Jajaira Gonzalez took the first victory for the US this Olympics against 2016 gold medalist Estelle Mossley on Saturday night. The California native outpunched the the gold medalist from the first round which went to America.

When the winner of the match entered the Arena for the fight she was booed by the audience for which she said after the fight “This might sound a little cocky, but I don’t fear anybody,’’ said Gonzalez “I don’t care what they’ve won, what they’ve done. I just like to think that I’m the best. And, yeah, they may have won this or that, but I’m here now.’’
She won by split decision on points over Mossely, who is 11-0-1 as a professional but came back to Amateur boxing seeking more Olympic medals.

After silencing the crowd who was not just booing on and singing Jajaira Gonzalez said “As soon as I heard the crowd booing me, it really turned me up,’’ Gonzalez said. “In other words, it really motivated me. … I was just having fun. That’s why I think I looked over at the crowd and I smiled. I really wanted to blow a kiss.’’
She advances to the round of 16 and faces Beatriz Iasmin Soares Ferreira of Brazil.
