During the summer, all kids are on leave, and the law says that schools are not the ones who feed them.

Summer EBT 2024: There are no longer actual Food Stamps. Instead, there are EBT cards that are used to give money to people who apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

These are for people who don’t have enough money to feed their kids while school is out for the summer.

Families with little or no income can get SNAP to help them buy food. During the summer, all kids are on leave, and the law says that schools are not the ones who feed them.

The SUN Bucks plan does give an extra $120 to each child who qualifies. Families with kids need to take care of certain things.

Is the Summer EBT program available to all children?

A certain set of characteristics is required for children to be eligible for the Sun Bucks program that offers $120 per qualifying child.

SNAP benefits, Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families are available to eligible children of school age.

The child must also attend a school that offers National School Lunch or School Breakfast.

Lastly, the family must make enough money to qualify for free or low-cost school food.

More than 30 states, Washington, D.C., tribal nations, and the U.S. regions of American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will all get these benefits.

There are some families that have already received their $120 per kid payment, but there are others who haven’t.

This month, California, Connecticut, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, and Vermont will make SUN Bucks payments.
