Stimulus Payment July: Pennsylvania property tax and rent rebates

Almost 80,000 people in Pennsylvania will receive their first rebates for property taxes and rents paid last year, according to Governor Josh Shapiro.

At an event at the Upper Darby Senior Center, Shapiro said, “The Property Tax Rent Rebate program has been a lifeline for Pennsylvanians for a long time. In my first year, we expanded the PTRR program and passed the largest targeted tax cut for our seniors in nearly twenty years.”

“This is a big deal for our seniors – and it’s proof that we can work together in a bipartisan manner to get stuff done.”

People in Pennsylvania aged 65 and up, widows and widowers aged 50 and up, and disabled people aged 18 and up can benefit from this program.

Because of changes made last year, landlords and renters in those groups with incomes up to $8,000 can get a $1,000 rebate. Those with incomes between $8,001 and $15,000 can get a $770 rebate, those with incomes between $15,001 and $18,000 can get a $460 rebate, and those with incomes between $18,001 and $45,000 can get a $380 rebate.
