Southern California got rattled by 5.2 Magnitude: California shook from a 5.2 Magnitude Earthquake near Bakersfield. The shock was felt around 6 miles of radius just after 9 pm. 7.6 miles west-northwest of Mettler in Kern County, nearly 19 miles south of Bakersfield, and 89 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

U.S. Geological Survey recorded 50 aftershocks following the Tuesday night Earthquake. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced after the Earthquake that there were no casualties or damage on the city level.

There was a robust aftershock sequence, with a M4.5 just 45 seconds after the mainshock. Like any quake in SoCal, there is a 5% chance that it will be followed by something bigger. That means a 95% chance that this is the largest. We have never found any characteristic that makes a quake more likely to be a foreshock.
