Robert Downey Jr. Early Life
Robert John Downey Jr. was born on April 4, 1965, in Manhattan, New York City to Robert Downey Sr. and Elsie Ann. Robert Downey Sr. was a successful filmmaker and his mother was an actress who appeared in Downey Sr.’s films.
Downey moved a lot during his childhood because of his father’s work in New York, London, New Mexico, California, etc. The Academy Award winner has experienced both poverty and wealth depending on how his father’s work goes. He was surrounded by drugs, as his father was a drug addict and his mother was an alcoholic.
The first time he did drugs was at the age of 6 when he smoked marijuana and then he choked on it. His father later said he regretted doing it. He used to do drugs with his father from the age of 8. RDJ said, “When my dad and I would do drugs together, it was like him trying to express his love for me in the only way he knew how.”
The first movie he acted in his father’s movie was the absurdist comedy film Pound at the age of 5. Downey went to live with his mother in California after their parents divorced and returned at the age of 17 to New York to pursue his career as an actor.

Robert’s first movie he acted in his father’s movie was the absurdist comedy film Pound at the age of 5. He went on to act in movies like Brat Pack in the teen films Weird Science (1985) and Less than Zero (1987), he played Charlie Chaplin in his biopic 1992. He stayed in a court-ordered drug treatment program for a while and made his comeback in the 2003 film The Singing Detective, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), the thriller Zodiac (2007), and the action comedy Tropic Thunder (2008).
Then he went on doing the Movie that shaped his career the most and a whole of Super Hero movies Iron Man the first movie of the MCU.
After retiring from MCU he went on doing a role in Oppenheimer which got him his first Academy Award.
