Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to End Presidential Bid: US news outlets say that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is going to drop his campaign to become the next president of the US and back Donald Trump, who is the Republican Party candidate.

Several news sites reported on Wednesday that Kennedy, the third child of liberal icon Robert F. Kennedy, is thinking about ending his campaign while appearing with Trump in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday. The announcement could be made during an event with Trump.

Kennedy’s campaign said earlier on Wednesday that he would give a speech in Phoenix about “the present historical moment and his path forward.” The news stories in The New York Times, CNN, ABC News, and NBC News follow that announcement.

Kennedy first ran as a Democrat, but then he changed his mind and ran as an independent. If he drops out, he could help Trump’s chances in November. Also, this is very true in important states where Trump won by very small amounts in 2016 and 2020.

Trump usually backs Kennedy over Kamala Harris, the Democrat running for vice president. Kennedy has been a lawyer for a long time and has always helped people.

NBC News did a study in July that found that only 15% of registered Democrats and independents were okay with John F. Kennedy’s child, but 33% of registered Republicans were okay with it.

Kennedy never seemed like he would run against Harris or Trump for president, but at its height, his campaign had more than 10% support in polls. In recent weeks, that support has dropped to about 5 percent.

Kennedy’s running mate Nicole Shanahan said earlier this week on the Impact Theory show that he was thinking about dropping out of the race because staying in would “risk” a Harris win. On Tuesday in an interview with CNN, Trump expressed his willingness to consider Kennedy for a cabinet position if he were elected.

Trump said, “I like him, and I respect him. He’s a brilliant guy. He’s a very smart guy. I’ve known him for a very long time.”
