The day originated from British cosmetics retailer Lush Cosmetics in 2019.  The brand came up with the holiday to make people realize how important it is to take some time just to take care of their skin daily. A mask can soothe, scrub, and cleanse the skin simultaneously. This day is to make people aware of the self-care. So don’t be stressed apply a face mask and rest on your couch until it’s time to peel that mask off.

Face masks have been significant throughout history. Cleopatra used to apply natural face masks made of honey and milk but the officially patented face mask was in the 19th century by Madame Rowley in Ohio. Clay masks gained popularity in the 20th Century, and  Sheet mask popularity also peaked around this time.
