What is G7 Summit ?
Fumio, the prime minister of Japan, was in India for two days. The Japanese premiere referred to India as an “indispensable partner” while speaking to the media in this location. In addition, he noted that Japan is holding the G7 president this year, while Japan is hosting the G20 presidency, and he expressed the hope that both nations will cooperate to promote peace. This was 49th G7Summit which was held in Japan on 19 to 21st May 2023 in Hiroshima city of Japan Hiroshima Prefecture.

An Intergovernmental organization called Group Of Seven (G7) consists following nations: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The group was originally formed in 1975 to coordinate economic policies and address global economic challenges.
The G7 countries account for about 40% of the world’s GDP and are home to some of the most influential and advanced economies in the world. They regularly meet to discuss a range of issues, including global economic growth, trade, climate change, and security. The 2021 G7 summit was hosted by the United Kingdom in Cornwall and was focused on rebuilding from the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening global cooperation.
The leaders agreed to donate one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to developing countries, commit to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and address China’s economic practices and human rights abuses. Overall, the G7 plays an important role in shaping global economic and political policies and serves as a platform for advanced economies to collaborate and tackle global challenges.
PM Modi Invited To G7 Summit
A formal invitation to join the G7 Hiroshima Summit, set to take place in May of this year, was also given to his Indian counterpart by Kishida, who spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fumio Kishida stated, “It is my hope that by working with ASEAN and many other countries, we will bring peace and prosperity to the international community which faces a time of challenges.”
The two presidents discussed the difficulties the world community was facing and determined that the G7 and G20 should work closely together while two different nations are currently hosting the meetings.
Japan will increase collaboration for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, according to Kishida. He remembered that in 2016, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe presented a vision for a “Free and Open Pacific” (FOIP). “Japan will increase its FOIP participation. As a result of Russia’s actions against Ukraine, we must confront the most fundamental obstacle to maintaining peace “said Fumio Kishida.
Who is Fumio Kishida?
Fumio Kishida Served as a Liberal Democratic Party President (of Japan) since September 2021. He was also appointed as the Prime Minister of Japan on October 4, 2021, following the resignation of his predecessor, Yoshihide Suga.
Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, Kishida had held various positions in the Japanese government, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs, and Minister of State for Disaster Management. He is known for his moderate political views and his focus on economic and diplomatic issues.
About Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi is the 14th prime minister of India. Discussions between the two nations encompassed a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations, defense, business, and digital collaboration.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant achievements resulting from previous deals with Japan, such as the ₹3.20 lakh crore worth of Japanese investment in India. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made in this regard.
Prime Minister Kishida of Japan stated his intention to unveil a new plan on the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) during a lecture event at the Indian Council for World Affairs (ICWA).
