Japan Earthquake Today: On Tuesday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 hit Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan, which is just northeast of Tokyo. This was reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the country’s weather service.
According to Xinhua, the quake happened at 10:19 p.m. local time (13:19 GMT) and was rated 3 on the Japanese scale of 7 for seismic strength.

From 36.1 degrees north to 140.1 degrees east, 70 km below the surface, the impact was found off the southern coast of Ibaraki Prefecture.
Even though there were no tsunami warnings, the tremors were felt strongly in downtown Tokyo.
