International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples: On the 9th of August of every month, International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This event is there to recognize the achievements and contributions of indigenous people.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’ History
Indigenous people are the first community to be ever made on that particular land. before other people came to live for example Red Indians used to to live in America before the colonies who came and conquered the land. There are almost 350 million indigenous people living in 90 countries which represent 5000 different cultures. The specialty of Indigenous people is that they always stay close to land and have a better understanding of spirituality.
Indigenous people are not the dominant group stronger group is is people who arrived later to conquer because of which they have suffered a lot. Earlier in the days when a group use to conquer another set of people’s land they use to pillage the area looting, killing, raping, and many other gruesome acts. After the influence of the outside world, the ingenious people’s culture started to fade under the influence of the people who conquered.
Even after modernization the cruelty to native people never stopped the government and private companies from taking over the the land they had for their own benefit.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’s Significance
This day represents the right and cultural recognition of the Indigenous Populations. It focuses on their right to practice their culture and make their own decision to be recognized as Indigenous or not.
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) decided, in its resolution 49/214 to observe the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People annually, on 9 August. The date represents the first meeting, in 1982, of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations.
