Hurricane Debby Strengthen to Category 1: According to the latest updates, The storm ‘Debby’ has grown stronger and has turned into a tropical hurricane. Hurricane Debby with its strong gustry winds and severe rains is moving towards Florida’s Big Bend.

By the end of the week, some parts of the Southeast have experienced about 30 inches of severe rains.

The first reports about Debby came on Saturday has now strengthened to Category 1 hurricane and also become the fourth named storm of the season.

As per the official updates, the storm is about 100 miles west-northwest of Tampa, Florida with gusty winds up to 75 miles per hour.

What triggered the storm to grow stronger was the Gulf waters. The weather department reported that the hurricane is currently moving north at about 12 miles per hour.

National Hurricane Center Hurricane specialist, Richard Pasch said, “This potentially historic rainfall may result in areas of catastrophic flooding.”

This marks the first massive hurricane strike for Florida this year and Florida citizens are taking precautions and measures to ensure the safety of their families.

According to the Florida media reports, the official asked the Florida citizens to leave in several parts of the country where Hurricane Debby is going to hit.

Tallahassee in Leon County is likely to open six hubs in different schools across the county.

The hurricane department reported that Debby after hitting land in Florida will become a little weak and will take a slow stroll through the Southeast.

On Sunday, Gov. Ron DeSantis said on social media ‘X’, “As Tropical Storm Debby approaches Florida, we are preparing throughout the state and have activated the State Emergency Operations Center.”

He also added, “The Florida Division of Emergency Management is working with all 67 counties to identify and meet any needs ahead of the storm. Our state agencies are prepared to respond quickly and efficiently. The Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard are activated to support humanitarian assistance and search and rescue missions.”

The Florida Government concluding the statement said, “Remember that hazards such as strong winds, storm surge, and tornadoes can occur before landfall, even outside the forecasted cone.”

The weather service department has issued several flash flood warnings for Manatee and Western Sarasota counties, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas until 11:30 p.m.

A total of 2,000 flights have been canceled and around 6,300 flights have been delayed. Among these canceled flights, the American Airlines and JetBlue flights were in most numbers.

The power outages in Florida so far have raised over 75,000 by 11:00 p.m. on Sunday among which 15% of these outages is from Levy County.

Hurricane Debby: What does the weather forecast say for Florida’s Big Bend?

USAToday reported that the weather forecast by the hurricane department says that the Debby hit the land in Florida’s Big Bend between the Suwannee River south of Tallahassee and the Ochlockonee River in the panhandle west of Tallahassee.

According to the reports, hurricane Debby will hit the land with strong winds of up to 95 miles per hour.

USAToday also reported that warnings have been issued for Florida Gulf Coast from Yankeetown to Indian Pass, south of Yankeetown to Boca Grande, west of Indian Pass to Mexico Beach, and south of Ponte Vedra Beach to South Santee River, and South Carolina.

According to the forecast, the areas between the Suwanee and Ochlockonee Rivers are highly expected to flood up to 10 feet of water.
