Hemorrhoids VA Rating: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently made changes to the Schedule for Rating Disabilities (VASRD) for stomach problems.

When this update goes live in 2024, it will change how conditions like hemorrhoids are ranked in a big way.
The VASRD is a popular way for the VA to figure out how bad a veteran’s disabilities are and how much money they should get for them.
This method makes sure that veterans are judged based on how much their conditions usually make it hard for them to work. The rating system is updated every so often to reflect new medical information and a more true picture of how different conditions affect veterans.

Hemorrhoids’ rating criteria have been updated
Hemorrhoids were previously rated as follows by the VA:
- Mild or moderate severity: 0% evaluation
- Hemorrhoids: 10% or 20% evaluation, depending on severity
Using the new 2024 criteria, hemorrhoids have been rated to reflect even less severe cases’ discomfort and impairment.
Hemorrhoids that are mild or moderate can now be evaluated at 10%.
Changes like this are meant to give a more accurate picture of how the condition impacts a veteran’s daily life and earning potential.
Hemorrhoids compensation recipients can now apply for a higher rating based on the new criteria.
As of May 19th, 2024, those with recent or pending claims will be evaluated under both old and new criteria, with the more favorable rating applied.
In this way, the revised system ensures that veterans receive the maximum amount of benefits.
It is important to note that these updates will not automatically increase veteran compensation.
A veteran’s current rating will only change if they apply for a reevaluation under the new criteria.
Additionally, a reduction in evaluation will only occur if the condition has improved sufficiently according to the former criteria.
The VA is aiming to make sure disability ratings match what troops experience in the field.
It wants to make sure all troops are paid equally by adding more accurate and specific terms for things like hemorrhoids.
