The State Examination Authority of Gujarat has announced the preliminary results for the Teachers’ Aptitude Test – Secondary (TAT-S) on Wednesday. This exam is a crucial step for candidates aspiring to teach in secondary schools.
Performance Overview
Out of the 1.45 million candidates who appeared for the exam, 41% (equivalent to 60,566 candidates) have qualified by scoring 70 or above in the 200-point question paper. The preliminary test for TAT-S was conducted on June 4. Qualified candidates are now eligible to appear for the TAT-S Main Exam, scheduled for June 25.

Changes in the Recruitment Process
The state government has recently revised the eligibility criteria for teaching positions in grades 9-12. Candidates are now required to clear two tests – TAT-Prelims and TAT-Main – as opposed to the previous requirement of just one TAT test. This new framework will be the basis for all future recruitments. The TAT initiative was launched by the state government in 2012. The TAT-S main exam was initially planned for June 18 but was later rescheduled to June 25.
TAT-S Mains Examination Venues
The TAT-S Mains examination will be conducted in four major cities of Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara.
Detailed Breakdown of Scores
According to the board’s data, 29.71% (or 43,125 candidates) scored 80 or more points, while 19.83% (or 28,777 candidates) scored 90 or more points. Furthermore, 12.43% (or 18,036 candidates) scored a perfect 100 out of 200, and 3.59% (or 5,208 candidates) scored 120 or more.
