Ganesh Chaturthi begins on September 7th and continues for 10 days till September 17th. The puja muhurat for Ganesh Chaturthi begins from 11:03 am to 1:34 pm and the Chaturthi Tithi starts from 03:01 PM on September 6th and the Tithi ends on September 7th at 05:37 PM.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: History

As per the legend, Lord Ganesha is the son of Maa Parvati and Shiva. Lord Ganesha is known to bring wisdom, prosperity, good fortune, and happiness. The story goes back to when Ganesha’s mother Parvati went to take a bath and told Ganesha to guard the area. At that time, Lord Shiva saw Ganesha and was shocked to see him outside where Maa Parvati was taking a bath and Shive wasn’t aware that Ganesha was his son.

However, as Ganesha’s mother instructs him to guard the place, he does not let Lord Shiva into the place which makes Lord Shiva angry and he cuts off Lord Ganesha’s head.

Maa Parvati gets very furious to see this and turns into Kali Maa. When Lord Shiva found out that it was his son, he instructed his men to find the head of a child whose mother was not looking at him. However, his men couldn’t find any child’s head and brought the head of a baby elephant.

Lord Shiva attached the elephant’s heads to lord Ganesha and became known as the god with an elephant head.
