Final Olympic Medal Count: As the Paris Olympics 2024 wraps up today, August 12, China makes a new record by winning 40 gold medals.

NBC reported that the United States and China both won a total of 40 gold medals. It’s for the first time in Olympic history that there has been a tie between two countries at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Li Wenwen, a Chinese weightlifter was the first one who win the first Olympic gold medal for China on Sunday. Soon after that US cyclist Jennifer Valente won the gold medal in the cycling event.

The USA team earned the 40th gold in women’s basketball which was the last event of the Paris Olympics. The USA basketball team won the match against France and secured their eighth consecutive Olympic gold.
However, the USA won a total of 126 medals including 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Meanwhile, China won a total of 91 medals at the Paris Olympics among which 40 were gold medals, 27 were silver medals and 24 were bronze.
Great Britain secured a total of 65 medals among 14 were gold medals, 22 were silver medals and 29 were bronze medals.
France secured the fourth position on the podium by securing 64 medals including 16 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 22 bronze medals while Australia won a total of 53 medals among which 18 were gold medals, 19 were silver medals and 16 were bronze medals.
