She was born on 30 March 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, she was born to Thérèse and Adhémar-Charles Dion. Celine Dion’s family was not very rich but had a passion for music and she was born and grew with that passion

She started off her music career at a very young age, from being a performer at her parents’ piano bar to writing her first song at the age of 12 years.

Her first song was made with the help of her mother and her brother Jacques however one of her brothers showed the song to René Angélil, a music manager.

He liked Celine Dion’s voice and wanted to make her famous, René Angélil paid for her first studio record, “La voix du bon Dieu” (The Good Lord’s Voice) which was released in 1981.

Soon after the song was released, the album became a local No. 1 hit and people starting recognized Celine Dion a great performer.

Celine Dion got more acclaim from people all over the world when she performed at the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo in 1982 and also became the Top performer.

She continued to rise to the frame and in 1988 she won the famous Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland and also on several Félix Awards.

By 1990, she learned English and made her first debut in the English music world by releasing her ninth album ‘Unison’ in English which got excellent reviews and was in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Her popularity began to rise even more when she sang the pop version of the theme song of the Disney animated film ‘Beauty and the Beast’ along with Peabo Bryson, the theme song also became a top 10 hit.

Because of the theme song she also received the Academy Award for Best Song and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo.

In 1992, she became a superstar when she released her second album ‘Céline Dion’ and the following year she released her third English studio album, “The Colour of My Love,” and announced her love for her music manager René Angélil in public.

By 1996 she released a lot of hit songs such as “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” “River Deep – Mountain High” and “All by Myself,” the following year she released her fifth English album, “Let’s Talk About Love,”

The biggest hit among her albums was “My Heart Will Go On,” which won her the Academy, Golden Globe, and Grammy awards. The song was also used as the theme song for the iconic film ‘Titanic.’

However, in the early 2000s, she took a break from her music career because of her husband’s cancer diagnosis but again returned in 2002 with her album, “A New Day Has Come.”

In 2016, she again took a break because of her husband’s and her brother’s deaths. Celine Dion received the Icon Award for her long-lasting and great career in music at the Billboard Music Awards in 2016.

She married her music manager René Angélil on 17 December 1994 at a lavish wedding ceremony in Canada at the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal.

Unfortunately, Celine Dion lost her husband on 14 January 2016 because of being diagnosed with throat cancer.
