Atlas United 2024 Music Festival Is Ongoing in Ukraine: Amid Russia-Ukraine war

It’s been 2 years since Russia invaded Moscow and declared war on Ukraine in the venture of conquering it back and making it part of their own country as it used to be back in the days of the USSR before its independence. Atlas began in 2015 in the Ukraine Capital Kyiv and big names like Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, and Liam Gallagher performed in the event.

The programming director of the biggest music festival in Ukraine – Atlas Festival  said “Normally for a festival of this size you would need a year or more to organise it,” He added “Normally for a festival of this size you would need a year or more to organise it, The reality showed us that cultural events are still possible in wartime.”

Almost 25000 guests are expected this year at the music even while the pre-war record is 10000 people. And for the concerns of unexpected attack from Russia during the fest, Vlad said “There will be more than enough space to get everyone evacuated quickly — and we’re talking minutes.” But this year there won’t be any international artists for obvious reasons but that won’t stop the event from happening it will only appreciate the home artists as they will get all the spotlight.

At this hard time, people need to relax and enjoy themselves for a bit amid life-threatening attacks and a fallen economy the people of Ukraine haven’t lost hope and are as strong as ever, this event symbolizes the hope and unity of the people of Ukraine.

Marina Ovsyannikova (Russian journalist who fled to Ukraine) said: “It’s always nice to gather together with people and to celebrate life itself, To just remember the joys of everyday life, because you might not have it tomorrow. Appreciate these moments and appreciate the people around you while you can.”

The event represents hope and people may think this might be a chance to forget the war but the funds raised from it will be donated to the Ukraine army and many big artists who fled the country and acts who’ve been spreading awareness abroad will return for the festival as it is important to give people hope.

Singer Shmiska, who now lives in Paris, said “People sometimes just start to lose their hope. They start to lose their dreams,” she says. I think, as artists, it’s our job to give people this chance to feel again, to dream again.”
