$1300 Rebate Payment in July: Salt Lake city residents have until July 2024 to get on the scheme and claim their voucher and money for the $1,300 rebate for purchasing an e-bike.

In response to the world’s growing awareness of emissions, the program aims to create a greener Utah city and environment.

Residents who qualify can get a $300 to $1300 voucher to buy an e-bike. This will cut down on the use of cars, trains, planes, and buses and make the air better for everyone.

Those who want to apply must live in Salt Lake City, be at least 18 years old, and show proof that they do. Each family can only submit two applications at a time.

Those who apply will get a coupon by July 31, 2024. It must be used by September 30, 2024, at Bingham Cyclery, Contender Bicycles, Magnum, Rad Power Bike, or Trek.

Similar plans are being made in Denver (CO), Portland (OR), Washington DC (GA), and St. Louis Park (MN) as the federal government tries to reach its net-zero goals.

What is the problem with fossil fuels?

A greenhouse gas, like methane or carbon dioxide, keeps heat in the air. Warming of the Earth causes storms, floods, and heat waves.

As temperatures rise, glaciers and ice caps in the Arctic melt. This causes the water level to rise. Animals cannot live in the wild as safely or easily. It also puts their food and water sources at risk. Flooding of the coast is made more likely.

As the air gets dirty, more illnesses spread. People are getting sick, such as lung cancer, more often.
